Urban Geography Research Group (UGRG) Dissertation Prizes 2023-2024

The Urban Geography Research Group is pleased to announce its annual prize for the best undergraduate dissertation based on original research in any area of urban geography.

The prize is open to undergraduate students studying at a UK university who submitted their dissertations in the 2023-2024 academic year. Dissertations should be of an outstanding (e.g. first class undergraduate) standard and could cover conceptual, empirical or methodological aspects of urban research. Work should not exceed 12,000 words.

The winner will receive £100. Two further candidates judged to be highly commended will receive £50 each. All three award recipients will have their dissertations featured on the UGRG website.

Please note: the entries should be nominated to the Urban Geography Research Group by the author’s head of department or supervisor.

Please send the following via email with the subject “UGRG Dissertation Submission” to Dr. Daniel Gutierrez at daniel.gutierrez@udl.cat no later than 12 July 2024.

  • PDF file of the dissertation
  • Copy of dissertation regulations
  • Email address for the student, which will be valid after the end of the academic year (in the case of institutional addresses which expire)

RGS-IBG Urban Geography Research Group: Bursary Application for RGS-IBG Mid-Term Conference 2024

The RGS-IBG Urban Geography Research Group (UGRG) is inviting applications for TWO bursaries supporting participation in the RGS-IBG Postgraduate Forum’s Mid-Term Conference 2024 by current postgraduate students studying or researching in the field of urban geography.

Each bursary takes the form of a £100 contribution to costs associated with participation in the Mid-Term Conference 2024. Funds can be used to defray registration fee or other costs (e.g. travel, accommodation and subsistence) at the discretion of the recipient.

Applications should be submitted via this form by 5 pm GMT on Friday 29 Mar 2024. Awards will be made by the UGRG Committee after the submission deadline as soon as possible.
